Ongoing school-wide events are part
of the spirit of Walnut Hill College. The school has so much to
celebrate - welcoming new students to our community, autumn harvest,
the coming of spring, the dog days of summer, and the ongoing
successes of each one of our graduates.
At Walnut Hill, the school year begins with a new students' Convocation
ceremony and continues with a Student Success Fair, an upperclassmen
Welcome Tea, tours, seminars, and much more. Friends and Family
Night brings together the entire school community of students,
faculty, administrators, staff, family, and friends with an open
house extravaganza of food, wine tastings, culinary demonstrations,
and fun.
In the autumn, Walnut Hill hosts an authentic German Octoberfest
with bratwurst, schnitzel, and apple strudel. A Mardi Gras party
complete with gumbo, jambalaya, and shrimp etouffee breaks up
the February doldrums; and the annual Book and the Cook event
in March offers students a chance to work alongside some of the
country's leading food professionals. The Spring Carnival lets
students relish the simple pleasures of carnival fare--cotton
candy, popcorn, and funnel cake, while trying their hand in a
free throw contest, or having their palm read or fortune told.
Scattered throughout the year are many other varied events, ranging
from a Halloween party to a Wing Bowl, to the AIDS Walk and blood
drives.
There is always something exciting happening at The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College.
