TRS Chef Instructor Richard Pepino Featured on CBS 3 Eyewitness News Consumer Segment
Something was fishy on Eyewitness News on Wednesday night, May 23, 2007 at 11:00 PM. That is when the Eyewitness News featured an investigative segment about "fish switching" in restaurants. TRS Chef Instructor Richard Pepino appeared on the segment as a guest expert. Click here to read or view the segment.
Community Education Summer Schedules-Summer Break 2007
The Community Education Department will be on summer break from July 6-September 6, 2007.
Evening summer classes will not be held during this time. Classes will resume on September 6, 2007.
The fall class schedule will be posted on the Community Education Page in the near future.
TRS-WHC Hosts Prestigious Young Chef Competition
The Restaurant School was selected by the prestigious Confrerie de la Chaine des Rotisseurs to host the 2007 National Jeunne Commis Chef Competition. On Saturday May 19 ten young chefs from around the USA converged on our campus. The competition was be judged by five Master Chefs.
Congratulations to the winner, Adam Smith of Charlotte, North Carolina. He will now move on to the Chaine's International Jeune Commis Commis Competition in Frankfurt, Germany in September, 2007.
TRS-WHC Restaurants Wine 2007 Wine Spectator Award
The Restaurant School at Walnut Hill College takes great pride in announcing that its four student-run restaurants have won the prestigious Wine Spectator award for the wine programs featured in each dining room. The TRS-WHC wine program is supervised by Restaurant Operations Instructor Philippe McCartney, who has educated his students in the fine art of wine and food pairing to win this award. More than 4,000 restaurants nationwide competed for this award. TRS-WHC will be featured in the Wine Spectator's annual dining guide in the August 31, 2007 issue.
Chef Pinkney to Star in Fretz Kitchen on CN8
TRS-WHC Director of Culinary Arts Chef Philip Pinkney will be starring in two episodes of The Fretz Kitchen, a cooking program aired on Comcast’s CN8. The programs featuring Chef Pinkney will begin to air this summer and will be seen in cities throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
Chef Pepino Establishes Kitchen Garden Student Organization.
Bringing his natural enthusiasm for all things culinary and gardening Chef Richard Pepino has helped create the college’s first Kitchen Garden organization for students.
